The charcoal curtains – whether they are sheer or thick – work as a great contrast to the lighter walls and floor. The choice of their material, as the choice of the furniture, will depend on the vibe that you are creating. Going for something more neutral and classic – darker materials to highlight the contrast and natural colors for the furniture to balance them.

In this ensemble, it is beneficial to use cold tones for both curtains and walls. (Tip: mixing warm and cold tones in any one combination is very thin ice and a hard job, so we recommend you staying within one tone in an ensemble or combining neutral with cold or warm ones).

As we mentioned before, to maintain a great balance of colors and textures, it is best to keep one simple and elaborate on the other one. That said if you introduce many different colors, do not mess with the textures, or keep it monochromatic and play with the surfaces.

This case may be specific due to the elaborate print used for the bed and the drapes (and as you may have noticed, it is the same for both), and such prints are hard to combine with other interior elements, however since these three cool colors work great together, the room does not look overloaded.

Or vice versa! There are no strict rules in design as long as it resembles your vision and makes you feel exactly the way you want to feel. This room is a perfect representation of classic style, with some “light” elements in white color and “heavy” decorations in metal.
